Geospatial Tourist Consumer Research

Geospatial Tourist Consumer ResearchGeospatial Tourist Consumer Research - The Spatial Profile of German Low-Cost Carrier Passengers  in Mallorca
Johannes Luberichs | Prof. Dr. Helmut Wachowiak (Editor)

The knowledge of the whereabouts of consumer groups within a tourism destination is of strategic importance for destination management. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) with their capabilities for business mapping and geospatial analysis seem to be valuable tools to gain this knowledge. Exemplified at Mallorca’s low-cost carrier tourism this study develops a framework for spatially enhanced tourist consumer research.

This book not only explores the distribution patterns of the German low-cost carrier passengers. It also discovers and explains the existence of very distinct consumer groups in the tourism regions around the island as well as the differences to the German tourists in general. The approach as well as results shall motivate stakeholders in the tourism industry, especially destinations, to enlarge their marketing and management issues towards geospatial analysis.
