Well prepared for the "real world"
Before beginning my studies in Tourism Management at IUBH in 2002, I had decided on a career in the international tourism & hospitality industry. I obtained my first internship at the German tour operator DERTOUR GmbH & Co. KG in Frankfurt in 2003; here I was able to combine theory and practice in tourism product development and management.
As a result of this internship, I moved to New York City in 2004 to begin my international internship at DERTOUR's subsidiary and incoming agency NEW WORLD TRAVEL Inc. The tourism magnet New York City is the perfect learning ground for anyone who wants to pursue a career in tourism & hospitality. I spent my year abroad at Northern Arizona University, where I completed my studies with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel & Restaurant Management.
Returning to Bad Honnef in 2005, I completed my thesis in tourism product branding with TUI AG in Hannover, Germany's largest tourism conglomerate. These practical experiences are what sets IUBH apart, and what gave me the foundation to successfully start my career in the hospitality industry in 2007.
For four years I have been working in various Sales, Marketing and Communications positions at DESIGN HOTELS AG in Berlin - a branding and positioning service for more than 200 individually owned and operated hotels worldwide. Currently I am responsible for Corporate Marketing and Communications.
My focus is on corporate publishing projects, hotel positioning within our brand, as well as membership and corporate communications. Our department also takes care of partnership marketing, sponsoring, as well as travel agent communications.
Through IUBH's focus on practical experiences within the curriculum, I felt I was well prepared for the "real world" and the industry in general. From the first day, my network began to grow and I have been fortunate to meet and learn from many experienced hoteliers in the industry.
