High Award for IUBH Tourism Programmes

High Award for IUBH Tourism Programmes
The World Tourism Organization of the United Nations (UNWTO) commended the tourism study programmes of the International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef · Bonn (IUBH). The Study Programmes International Tourism Management and Tourism and Travel Management now rank among the world's leading programmes in this field.
The IUBH is the first German university of applied sciences that received the certificate UNWTO.TedQual. "With this certificate we join the network of the world's leading universities in the field of tourism", said Prof. Dr. Helmut Wachowiak, Head of IUBH Tourism Management Department. The award obligates the IUBH to further its quality to prepare the students for the labour market optimally. The Prorector of the IUBH, Prof. Dr. Kurt Jeschke, recommended high-school graduates to look out for certificates and seals of quality when choosing a degree. Those guarantee the quality of teaching and the curriculum.

The UNWTO.TedQual Certification is, as its name shows, a certification issued by the World Tourism Organization - specialized agency of the United Nations - to support the improvement of tourism education and training programmes.

In this regard, the objectives behind granting a certification goes further than ensuring compliance with certain quality standards. Therefore, institutions that apply/have the certification are expected to make a commitment to gradually incorporate the purpose and principles of the United Nations - reflected in the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism - which ultimately will be their identification mark when being compared to other tourism education and training programmes around the world.
