IUBH graduates report
Valuable insights on a different level
As was the case for many of my co-students as well, I had been fascinated with the global opportunities within the hospitality industry long before I started my studies at the International University of Applied Sciences in Bad Honnef · Bonn in September 2005. One of the crucial reasons that determined my decision to study at the IUBH was the combination of theory and practice that students are offered by its programs. My four years of studies - including two internships and one year-abroad in the USA, respectively - only confirmed my opinion that a balanced mixture of theory and practice produces great opportunities for students to acquire not only knowledge, but in-depth experiences as well since these are the qualifications that render young graduates attractive for future employers.
It was during my first semester at the IUBH that I acquired a more detailed knowledge of The Ritz-Carlton Hotels and Resorts. Being a benchmark for the entire luxury hotel industry, the company was frequently used by professors as an example demonstrating service excellence, an exceptional company culture, and the passion to create a legendary service, for which The Ritz-Carlton is undoubtedly globally renowned for.
When starting my first internship in the Sales & Marketing department of The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey, California, I felt right away that I had picked exactly the very special company that I had been hoping for. Being treated like a fulltime employee, I enjoyed working in a very dynamic environment in which I could really make a difference.
I completed my second internship at The Ritz-Carlton Corporate Office in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and was thus given the opportunity to gain valuable insights on a different level of the company's structure. As an intern in the Corporate E-Commerce department, I was part of a very professional and dedicated team and enjoyed being given many opportunities to learn and develop as well as the freedom to develop my individual strengths.
Hence, I am very grateful that I was offered a position at the Corporate E-Commerce Marketing department after completing my studies and I am excited and proud to be with a company that does not only provide genuine care for its guests, but for its employees as well.
