IUBH Wall of Fame presents
Leading Hotels of the World
In 2009, I saw the poster to participate in a design competition for the first time. This contest was generated by the Leading Hotels of the World (now Hotel Schools of Distinction) to celebrate their 80th anniversary, and the challenge was to design a luxury hotel suite of the year 2028.
Immediately, I thought how interesting it would be to participate in a design contest. I studied Hotel Management and have always been interested in Design and Architecture, too. I saw this as my chance to combine my interests. Together with my two friends, who studied Aviation and Event Management, we became a perfect mix and judged by architects and by senior management of the Leading Hotels of the World; we became the winning-team of this competition.
We combined biology, psychology and technology and so developed our hotel suite of the year 2028 "Nature meets Technology". Our prize was a two-night stay in a luxury hotel in Prague.
Looking back at four hard-working but also very exciting years of studies, I must say that participating in this competition, as well as choosing to study a double degree Hotel Management Course at the IUBH was so far my best decision.
The combination of theory and practice enabled me to gain valuable on-the-job experience during my two internships in Hotels in Florence and in Brussels to put into practice what I had previously learned. And doing my Bachelor at the University of Brighton in the UK, during my year abroad, perfectly rounded-off my experience as a student and prepared me for the future in the Hospitality industry.
