IUBH Wall of Fame presents
Alfred Brenner Award
„Once you stop striving to be better, you stop being good." This quote by Rudolf August Oetker was the slogan of the Alfred Brenner Award 2011.
In every new experience I see the chance to learn and improve myself. Furthermore, it has always paid off when I worked and performed beyond the "necessary" - as it has in this case. In all respects the competition was a worthwhile experience that began at the check-in for two nights in the Brenners Park Hotel & Spa in Baden-Baden. The hosts did everything to ensure a luxurious and exemplary stay for all the 8 finalists. Dinner in the 2 Michelin Star rated Park Restaurant and a throughout outstanding service from check-in to check-out demonstrated a benchmark of service excellence.
Interesting expert talks amongst the candidates and the members of the highly decorated panel showed new future prospects and chances. All of this, together with the prize money and the title, made the Alfred Brenner Award an experience I won't forget.

The Hyatt Student Prize
- Leaders of Tomorrow -
In 2011 the Hyatt Student Prize has been awarded for the fourth time. Master students from a total of 20 international, preselected schools had the opportunity to apply for the finale in Paris. The selection of the nine finalists was based on the candidates’ profile, motivation questionnaires and a video application.
In Paris the challenge was to convince the jury during different group interviews with one’s competency and personality. At the end of the day, the highlight of the beautiful gala dinner event at the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme was the nomination of the three most convincing candidates.
Finally, the jury awarded me the winner of the competition.
The Hyatt Hotels Corporation will provide the winner with the opportunity to meet Hyatt executives and to discover the “Hyatt management style”. I will have the opportunity to spend one week each at the Park Hyatt Paris, Zurich and Chicago. During my one week in Paris I will meet with the General Managers of the three local Hyatt properties to get insights into their daily work. Further, I am invited to spend one week in the Zurich-based regional head offices for Europe, Africa and the Middle East, attending meetings with the vice-presidents of the division. Finally, I will spend one week in the Chicago-based company’s head offices to meet with key representatives in human resources, development and the opening offices.
On top of that, I will receive complementary transportation, a business class flight to Chicago, a trophy, and EUR 1000 pocket money. All of the aforementioned, demonstrates the great opportunities my participation in this competition has resulted in.
I am very happy that I took this opportunity and that the IUBH made this success possible by supporting me, providing me with the right education and by believing in me and my personal abilities. I am highly convinced that my trips to the Hyatt properties will broaden my horizons in many respects and that the Hyatt Student Prize will be a future asset for me, personally as well as professionally.
