Worldwide Hospitality Awards 2013

When I finished my Bachelor studies at the IUBH in International Hospitality and Tourism Management, the next steps happened quite fast. I had already discussed the topic of Quality Management in Budget Hotels in my Bachelor Thesis. The paper was nominated to Best Thesis Award.

I continued to put a strong focus on this topic, since the immense potential of this growing hospitality industry sector had already fascinated me during the thesis. In my opinion, one that is nowadays shared by many, the hybrid traveler of today does not necessarily need to check into a luxury hotel. Value for money has become more important, guests have become very self-confident and they demand transparency. Quality-driven hotels with affordable prices profit from that development.

This is why I applied at Motel One in Munich and was hired as Management Trainee in 2010. I went through all relevant departments in different hotels. In 2011, I became Assistant Manager in the first Motel One in Austria.
Since June 2013, I was entrusted the position of Manager of our new property in Vienna with 359 rooms next to the exhibition center. I started in the preopening office and ever since the opening in December 2013, my team and I are successfully establishing the hotel in the Viennese hotel market.

In 2013, the IUBH and Motel One approached me and asked me to participate in the election for the World Hospitality Award 2013, category Best Professional Success. With our application, we managed to get to the finals. For that purpose, Dr. LeGrand (Lecturer IUBH), Prof. Dr. Thuy (Dean), representatives of Motel One and I travelled to Paris to participate in the award ceremony in the Intercontinental LeGrand.

I am extremely proud and thankful about the fact that in my career, the IUBH has somehow always accompanied me and made me better in many ways. During the studies with its academic and practical focus, but also during many hours of team work and time spent together with fellow students and lecturers. Surprisingly, the IUBH continues to influence my career: alumni networks, recruiting events and a promising cooperation of the IUBH with Motel One are only a few examples.

My studies have definitely enriched my career and shown me many paths. I can definitely recommend the IUBH 100%!
