I only knew what I wanted to study after my vocational training and a year of work experience: I wanted to be employable internationally later and also acquire management skills. So an English-language programme in International Management with a focus on marketing was the right choice for me.
On the expansion course: Rise from Sales Manager to Head of Key Account Management
After studying at the IUBH, I started as a Sales Manager at foodora in Düsseldorf. My job was to open up the city of Dusseldorf as a new market and gain as many partners as possible. I had reached the goal of getting the Düsseldorf location live after three months. After that, I realised: I don’t want to just convince partners, but help develop them further, support them and improve them in out-of-office business. That is one important aspect of account management. So I moved to Munich, where foodora was started, and became the first Key Account Manager handle existing partners. As a result of the rapid growth, our team also expanded – after a short time, there were four key account managers for all of Munich, and we expanded into other cities in the South. Because of my experience and my previous commitment, I was given the leadership role for the team. After having carried out a lot of other projects, I am now Head of Key Account Management South Germany & Austria. My responsibilities include seven cities with over 600 partners. Every day is a new challenge, which gives me great pleasure – coupled with my great passion for food.
Studying at the IUBH provides excellent preparation for working in an international environment
Looking back on my studies, I can say this: I had a great time at the IUBH. I was able to meet many people from different regions with whom I am still in good contact today. But the best thing about studying at the IUBH was the practicality, which made me very well prepared for professional life. The IUBH's close contacts in business allowed me to use much of what I learned right away. Good command of English and the right skills are ideal preparation for working in an international environment. And studying at the IUBH is the first step in this direction.
