IUBH is system-accredited

With a decision on 4 December 2018, IUBH was system-accredited.

As the managing director of the accreditation agency FIBAA, Prof. Dr. Kerstin Fink, emphasised during the presentation of the accreditation certificate on the campus in Bad Honnef, this accreditation is valid for a period of 6 years and was granted without restrictions and recommendations: "With the system accreditation - without restrictions - the IUBH achieves autonomy and flexibility in programme development. However, this also entails greater responsibility, because after accreditation is before accreditation".

With this best of possible outcome, the quality management system of the university is honoured: With this successful system accreditation, the Accreditation Council certifies that IUBH’s internal system for the accreditation of study programmes fully meets the requirements.

In its report on system accreditation, the team of evaluators supervised by FIBAA emphasised that the "IUBH University of Applied Sciences [...] has established a comprehensive and convincing quality management system and has demonstrated its effectiveness. [...] The university is carried by a practiced culture of quality improvement." It further states, "The control and quality management system bindingly encompasses without exception the consideration and verification of compliance with specifications of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) and the Accreditation Council for the accreditation of degree programmes".

System accreditation enables IUBH to independently accredit new programmes in accordance with the quality standards defined by the Accreditation Council. Prof. Dr. Peter Thuy, Rector of the IUBH, explains: "System accreditation enables IUBH to carry out accreditation of its bachelor's and master's programmes with greater flexibility and to respond more quickly to market requirements without sacrificing quality”.
