It has become tradition for the IUBH Best Thesis Award to be bestowed as part of the graduation ceremony. Sponsored by the Society of Patrons of the IUBH International University of Applied Sciences e.V., the award recognises the best Bachelor’s and Master’s theses from a given semester. Paul Friedrich, a graduate in Aviation Management, was honoured for his Bachelor’s thesis, while Mikaeel Manan, Transport & Logistics Management, took home the award at Master’s level. In token of their achievement, the awardees were presented with book vouchers for €250 on behalf of the Society of Patrons.
The centrepiece of the ceremony was a speech given by Prof. Dr. med. Francisco Tigre-Moura, lecturer in International Marketing Management at the Bad Honnef campus. Prof. Tigre-Moura had wise words to offer to the graduates, advising them to always seek what is meaningful and fulfilling when making their future life decisions. Never be afraid to diverge from the ‘beaten track’, he counselled, as long as the detour still brings you to the right destination, and you are prepared to meet whatever unexpected challenges might lie along the way. In closing, he reminded the graduates of how important it is not to lose sight of what really matters in life: health, friends and family.
After further speeches by the faculty and an address from the graduates themselves, the ceremony concluded with the traditional switching of the mortarboard tassels from the right to the left side. Then, along the Kameha terrace overlooking the Rhine, friends, family and faculty alike toasted the new graduates as the sun shone brilliantly down.
