The 10th Business +/- Ethics Dialogue took place at IHK Bonn/Rhein-Sieg last November. The topic, “Artificial Intelligence – today it’s the future, tomorrow reality” brought a full house to the event.
Over 80 students, business people and others interested in the future attended the discussion with Prof Dr Dr Sautermeister (Department of Theological Ethics, Bonn University), Prof Dr Fettke (German Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence, Saarbrücken) and Florian Schild (boot.AI, Düsseldorf).
The Business +/- Ethics Dialogue series takes place twice a year and is organised by IUBH students as part of their study programme. The Chamber of Commerce Bonn/Rhein-Sieg and the Catholic Social Institute support the series.
This year Jürgen Hindenberg, Director of the Chamber of Commerce, moderated discussions that covered topics such as how artificial intelligence will affect the economy and tomorrow’s society, and where there are points of contact with the omnipresent technology.
Prof Dr Dr Sautermeister represented the ethical view. Although he is largely critical of developments in this area, he also emphasized that the versatility of the applications does not allow hasty conclusions. Opposite him sat the two representatives from research and industry, Prof. Dr. med. Fettke and Mr. Schild, who, as insiders, are on the front lines of the current progress in artificial intelligence, were able to give well-founded insights.
